Hey Hoopers,

It looks like it's not going to rain. Yay!

Sunday, March 8th: SNOW PARK (Oakland) - It's usually warmer in the East Bay so we're gonna take advantage of it! We've been having great East Bay turnouts at Snow Park in Oakland and we're all really liking hooping there so we're going back again. We'll be there from 2 until 4pm and it's just a short walk from the 19th St. BART Station at 19th & Harrison. Park info: www.oaklandnet.com/parks/parks/snow.asp

See you there,

I saw you there! But I didn't see this until today, I wish I would've known! I felt completely unwelcomed yesterday, kinda weird, not at all what I was expecting from fellow hoopers... I'm pretty bummed about it. If you live in the Oakland Area though we should meet up for a hoop jam one day =D

Samantha, were you wearing a hat at Snowpark? I'm trying to picture you. I was there too. Really sorry that you didn't feel welcome. Please give us another chance. I'm the little asian lady. I felt really aweward my first few times. I didn't feel comfortable with my hooping skills so I kind of did small talk on the side. Which made it worst cause it gave me an oppurtunity to watch the more seasoned hoopers. Which made me feel more intimadated. The energy of hooping in a group is so awesome. It's worth coming back.
I think one of the main things is that the Sunday BAH is 2 hours. So we have to hoop and connect in such a short time. I've learned so much at BAH. There's always more to learn. I just go up to people whom have done a cool trick and ask them to teach me. They are always willing.
Anyway, please come again and I'll look for you in your cute pink hair. Every happy hooper counts!

I'd like to make a special thanks to Samantha for coming out to this past event. She lives in Concord(yes that's right, Concord!) and is a full time student and works part time and had managed to find some time and energy to come out to our hula hooping event in Oakland. She had been anticipating this event for a very long time and finally was able to show up. But sadly she was disappointed.

The only people to say hi to her were Jeru, Choi, and I. I'm just telling you all to be more aware. And learn to reach out to each other.

Her and I had emailed each other before on our yahoo groups and i agreed that it would be difficult for her to show up on Sundays, especially since she worked those days. She had shown a heartfelt sincerity about coming to a BAH meeting.

For this I offer my apologizes to her and the group. But we do hope to see her again soon! =) .. please give us another chance.

Well in my opinion. maybe she can shed her judgment and just reach out. Cuz at the end of the day there are days when I love people and there are days when I just want to hoop. Everyone needs to reach out when it's possible for them. I don't think it's fair to finger wag people for just being -- to each their own. And if BAH wants to make a special greeting committee for peeps like that then maybe that needs to happen. =)

For myself, I went out to party, danced all night in front of the speakers woke up with little sleep and with still ringing ears and dragged my arse out there cuz it was BAH and because it was Oakland where I live. I barely even talked to the ppl I know. Everyone has their trials and tribulations. I stress again, to each their own.
