Hello hoopers,
I have gotten many comments about us cancelling the last few hours before an event for the last 2 weeks. My apologies again. I will take the blame for this. The weather has very unpredictable lately. One minute it’s raining, the next hour it’s sunny and warm. And if you didn’t know, Philo is out on vacation. And I am out on a back injury. I will be coming back soon, next week hopefully.
As I have said before, this is a community where we work together every week to have an opportunity for us to all hoop together. The sound system DOES NOT magically appear every weekend. And the events are not magically scheduled every day of the week. There is an actual human being doing this work.
Usually the person who is leading needs to bring hoops(and extra hoops) and a sound system. They will almost always be coming in a CAR. They will need to park that CAR somehow and somewhere. And parking the car is not always easy, depending on where we are hooping for that day. Most likely the leader will want to drop off the hoops and sound system and then park their car. So, there usually needs to be an extra someone there to help unload the hoops and sound system and watch those items while the leader parks his car. This is particularly true of locations like Dolores Park and Hayes Green.
So it would be nice for some of you to show some effort in maintaining this group and showing some compassion for each and every member. It may be helping me, Philo, or any other leaders carry the sound system and hula hoops to and from the car. Or it may simply be offering help to another member. The three things you need when hooping at an event is music, some hoops, and yourself. There’s not much to a hoop gathering. We don’t need to make it more complicated than it is. It IS ok to communicate utmost each other when things turn and change. It is OK to take an initiative to go and help out one another.
I’d like to thank the few people who gathered at Dolores park today without any of our usual leaders and sound system. You guys did the right thing and I like to see more of you working in similar ways, as a group, as a team, as a community.
As it stand today we have 512 members on Tribe.net. 563 members on our BAH Yahoo groups. And 170 members on Facebook. The forums on Tribe, Facebook, and Yahoo are all open. Learn to listen. Don’t be afraid of each other. We’d like to keep seeing your smiling faces! So don’t give up now! See you guys soon.
Best Regards,
Tiger
